Quicklook Mobile helps you keep an eye on things …

Applied Information has incorporated a forward-facing “dash cam” into our latest generation of vehicle units to provide still images (with video coming soon) in addition to the data-driven information represented on the map. With this new technology, it will be easier than ever to verify road conditions such as snow and ice. While current instruments can detect the presence of these conditions, the addition of the camera will allow users to see the extent of the problem and precisely how much of the road is affected. Together with MARWIS sensors, Quicklook Mobile also provides quick confirmation of “standing water” alarms which indicate a higher risk of hydroplaning.

The units have been deployed on emergency vehicles and highway assistance vehicles to help the Traffic Management Center maintain a situational overview of traffic incidents. On surface streets and remote highways, where the costs of fixed cameras would be exceedingly high, Quicklook Mobile offers a low-cost alternative for efficient visual verification.  During winter weather and heavy rain events, the technology is an important part of Active Traffic Management to lower the speed limit and make road travel safe.
