Introducing TravelSafely

Applied Information is pleased to announce the development of our new connected vehicle smartphone application – Glance TravelSafely™. The app leverages cutting-edge technology to make the promise of connected vehicle systems a reality, and keep each other safer on the roads.

The future of connected vehicles is in your hands

TravelSafely brings accurate and up-to-the-second connected-vehicle communication to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians through an app on their smartphones. The application leverages connections with Applied Information’s Glance Smart City Supervisory System™, enabling communications with school beacons, emergency vehicles, and traffic light systems.

Citizens using the TravelSafely app are seamlessly connected to your city and other motorists using the app. Through a carefully crafted set of alerts, users are made aware of potentially dangerous road conditions. Examples of how citizens will use TravelSafely include:

TRAFFIC SIGNALS

The Signal Phase and Timing components of TravelSafely alert drivers when traffic lights will change. Red light running alarms are generated if the system detects the vehicle will run a red light.

SCHOOL BEACONS

Drivers are alerted when they are speeding in a school zone. TravelSafely communicates with your school beacons to only provide a warning if the beacon is active.

EMERGENCY VEHICLES

Through direct integration with the Applied Information preemption system, motorists are alerted to where the emergency vehicles are coming from.

CYCLISTS & PEDESTRIANS

Cyclists and other Vulnerable Road Users are alerted of speeding vehicles. Additionally, motorists who are speeding near the cyclists are alerted to their presence.

WORK ZONES

Drivers are alerted when they are speeding in a work zone. TravelSafely detects if you are in a work zone to only provide a warning if the work zone is active.

Seamlessly connecting the future of traffic safety

TravelSafely communicates data over cellular communications and/or Dedicated Short-Range Radios (DSRC). The application is delivered as a free download in partnership with cities and municipalities who utilize the Applied Information Smart City Supervisory System.

This smartphone application brings high-tech communications to users as well as making communities safer. TravelSafely’s cutting-edge technology is making the promise of connected vehicles a reality.
